Biography:  Diansheng Guo is Associate Professor of geography at the University of South Carolina. He received his B.S. degree from Peking University (1996), M.S. degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (1999), and Ph.D. degree in geography from the Pennsylvania State University (2003). His research interests include GIScience, information visualization, spatial data mining and knowledge discovery, spatial optimization, and their applications in various geographic domains. Dr. Guo received the NSF CAREER Award in 2008. He has served on the program committee for more than 20 international conferences, including GIScience, IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM), IEEE International Conference on Information Visualization (InfoVis), and the IEEE International Conference on Visual Analytics Science and Technology (IEEE VAST). He is currently on the editorial board for Transactions in GIS, Professional Geographer, and Cartography and Geographical Information Science. He is the Chair of AAG Geographic Information Science and Systems Specialty Group. He was the President (2012) and Chair of Board (2013) for the International Association of Chinese Professionals in Geographic Information Sciences (CPGIS), and was the Communications Chair (2009-2013) for the University Consortium of Geographical Information Science (UCGIS).
